Chapter 12 · 12.6
Photos from your phone to your Nextcloud
The easiest way to get your photos into your Nextcloud is to upload them automatically with the Nextcloud app on your phone. Every new photo then goes to your Nextcloud by itself and appears in Photos and Memories.
How to turn it on
You can read step by step how to turn on automatic upload on your iPhone or Android in Automatically uploading photos. Has it stopped working after an app update on Android? Then check Resuming photo upload on Android after an app update. If uploading stops, Photo upload on your phone stops can help.
Make sure the apps can find the photos
- Check which folder the app puts your photos in (for example a folder called Camera or InstantUpload).
- Add that folder under Photos settings in Photos, see Timeline, albums and folders.
- In Memories, choose a timeline folder that this folder falls under, see Photos or Memories: which app for what?.
Photos from your computer
Drag a folder of photos into Files in your browser, or put them in your Nextcloud folder on your computer using the desktop app. See Uploading and downloading, including large files, whole folders and zip and Installing Nextcloud Files on Windows.
Photos from Google Photos
If you're switching from Google Photos, use the WebOké Import Tool: it brings along the date, location and device of your photos. See Transferring Google Drive, Photos, Calendar and Contacts with the WebOké Import Tool and Transferring Google Photos with the correct dates and albums.
Please note: photos and videos take up a lot of space. Check every now and then how much storage you have left, see Viewing your storage: what counts and what doesn't.
