Linking the program to your WebOké Nextcloud

Link your Nextcloud Office to your WebOké Nextcloud, and you can open your cloud files directly in the program. Whatever you save goes straight back to your Nextcloud, and colleagues can work on it at the same time.

What do you need?

  • The address of your Nextcloud. This is the address you see in the browser when you're logged in, without the part after the name. In this guide, it's https://demo.webokecloud.nl; for you, it might be https://cloud.jouwbedrijf.nl or an address ending in webokecloud.nl.
  • Your username (or email address) and your regular password for your Nextcloud.
  • If you use two-factor authentication: your phone or mailbox for the code.

Making the connection

  1. Open Nextcloud Office and click Connect to cloud on the left.
  2. Choose Nextcloud from the list of clouds.
  3. Under Cloud office URL, enter the address of your Nextcloud, for example https://demo.webokecloud.nl.
  4. Click Connect now.
  5. The login screen for your WebOké Nextcloud opens in the program. Log in with your username and password, and enter the two-factor authentication code if asked.
  6. You'll now see your files, just like in the browser. From now on, your Nextcloud appears on the left under Connected clouds.

Click a document and it opens in a tab in the program. Any changes you make are saved to your Nextcloud. The next time you open the program, just click your Nextcloud on the left to go straight back to your files.

Please note: in the program's login window, log in with your regular password, not an app password. An app password won't work in this window. Pasting from a password manager often doesn't work here either, so type your password yourself. And if you normally only log in with a passkey or security key (Log in without a password), use your password in the program instead.

Do you see the message Check the cloud office URL? Then check the address: it should start with https://, with no spaces and nothing like /apps/files added after it.

Which devices have access? Check Security

In your WebOké Nextcloud, you can always see which computers, phones and apps have access to your account. Here's how:

  1. In your Nextcloud, in the browser, click your profile photo at the top right (1) and choose Settings (2).
  2. Click Security on the left.
The user menu with Settings
Click your profile photo (1) and then Settings (2)

On the Security page (1), under Devices & sessions (2), you'll see all the browsers, computers, phones and apps logged in to your account, along with when they were last active. Lost a laptop or phone? Click the three dots next to that device to revoke its access.

What is an app password?

An app password is a separate password for a single app. That way, an app doesn't need to know your real password, and you can revoke that one app's access without changing your own password. The Nextcloud app on your phone and the sync app on your computer create this kind of password themselves when you log in through your browser; you'll then see them in the list.

You only need to create an app password yourself for an app that can't show a login screen for your Nextcloud, for example a calendar app or a program that connects via WebDAV: at the bottom, under App name, type a name you'll recognise and click Create new app password (3). You'll only see the password once, so copy it straight into that app. You don't need an app password for Nextcloud Office.

Tip: opening a document from the cloud works through your WebOké Nextcloud, just like in the browser. If you can't edit documents in the browser, it won't work in the program either. In that case, ask your Nextcloud administrator to give you access to Euro-Office, see Ordering and assigning Office licences to users.
